There are some ways to solve your inconveniences.
Firstly, and most important, you should be careful and intelligent with the days you choose in the queue, you can take the days in which you have more free time or more flexibility with your life things, make sure you can easily manage the time those days and then would be easy for you.
Secondly, you can perfectly know how many time the featured map is in the front, almost every featured map get a first new comment after the featuring in the first 30 minutes, if not from the reviewer itself or maybe from someone, then you can easily know the time looking at the time of the comments posted, there you can find from how many time the review is in the front.
About posting too late, certainly it's better althought then the review maybe get out soon by the next, than posting early in your own benefit. It's your problem not having the right time, not's the problem of the author featured previously than yours, so, if you didn't have time better late than early.

i'm pretty sure this is the second time i've had to ask you to give the previous feature more time - i think you cut palemoon's map off at like 14 hours. don't go by what day it is, go by how many hours (at least 18) the current feature has had
