Description What's happening in your sandwich right now. Rant below...

Okay, recently I’ve been getting a lot of complaints that my maps are getting too similar to atobs. After playing through sunshine science, I saw a lot of techniques that could be practically used in my maps, and since there’s no denying the quality of the map pack I thought Id try some ideas out. Which you can see from the maps in the map pack I’ve been making recently.

I haven't been trying outright to simply copy his ideas; I just took influence from his style and used it to perpetuate my own ideas. However, I’ve noticed with some of my recent maps, this really hasn’t been the case, and it's getting almost down to plagiarising, in some people’s opinions.

See more in the comment. Basically no more trees for the sake of trees. Enjoy!

Which is usually peak activity in Europe and America. 10 NX time is midnight GMT, so no-ones on.

what is NZ time

becouse I want to know
when people are on, and when people arent, at 6.00 pm NZ time there are about 10 people on but at 10.00pm NZ time there is one person on (me). Therefore by waiting untill 6 I can always get a hit because people are on, just have a good tileset to draw people in and then bam their hooked (even if its not that good). Its a bit like catching fish i guess idk

This map suffers.

From many many many many many many mines. They're best used in sparingly in my experience.

Bler.

I've no problem with anyone copying the things I do, it just gets boring when they're copied too much and flattery can be spread thin. You know?
is that for the people playing it, the map feels the same as all the others, and it gets boring
don't worry, its not about you copying his style, i told him it was getting old too

Personally

I wouldn't be able to identify a map as being made by someone based upon its style. The map itself is well made, based around a laser, and it does that very well in many places.
Sub 2000 is possible, but I cant be bothered enough

I have no idea why

But it's only on your maps that I forget to rate >.< Maybe it's because I always have so much to say and I get caught up in the comment... Eventually I'll remember lol

Odd

My maps are usually too cramped :)
Because you were able to get the switches in either order. The map was great; the laser was perfect. Actually, this map might be more of an inspiration for me than STTG, because of the way the tiles are; my maps are generally too open and I'm trying to fix that. 4/5

If you say so

I found it quite linear imo, but it could definitely be taken through different routes, altho not all may be as well suited to the laser as the intended route.
this is freeform.

None taken

It was a fun map, but completely unoriginal imo, and certainly not somethng I'd want to make again after that rebuke.

It's still

atob-esque. Just the atmosphere didn't match up.

Ehh.

I agree with skyline on that last one, no offense. I'll play this now.

what

would generic and saturated mean? and i don't see it getting anywhere different
Your map "Slave to the Grave" is my inspiration for the map I'm working on now, since my maps' style is also starting to look like another's maps (specifically metanet, but not quite as good :D)

*continues rant*

Personally I don't see anything wrong with taking ideas and using them to enhance my own maps. It's not as if I'm doing what superstardomx occasionally does (no offense to you) and copying shapes directly into his maps. Unless atob himself says that he has a problem with me somewhat emulating his style, then personally I don't see why this is such a bad thing.
However, after a lot of feedback from other users and some deliberation on some of my more recent attempts, I'll admit that I'm beginning to fall down a bit of a slippery slope. So, from now on, I'm gonna make sure my maps don't get too generic and saturated, to make sure there’s plenty of individual quirks in each of my maps, and to make sure I take tips from other sources as well. I hope this map is a good example of what I intend to do in the future...
