Midnight Wire

When I think about what a good mapping concept is, my mind drifts the way of xdude_. He had a way of popularizing convention, and this map is no exception.
Midnight Wire is a neat mess of fun. The tiles are a great extension of a previous xdude map, and they play their part well. Everything just seems to work with this map, from the wonderful gold down to the simple prolonged play that the path gives. And indeed, the enemies are just enough. Generic, this ain't.
xdude_ needs to come back.

I'm not a fan
of surface follow drones on these kind of rocky designs. Even though I'm fully aware of the paths the drones will take, it always seems to throw me when they shift against thin air.
However, this map largely avoids that due to the obvious care that's been taken (for the most part) in its construction.
Some excellent use of space and drone paths. Good choice, orion, and nice review.

nice level
I generally don't like pointy-bits-and-mines or the cave/dodge-the-drone style levels, but only having two drones and having the pointy bits on the top half only makes them fun without being annoying. 4/5

Too many enemy types in such small spaces for my liking
