Description | I'm alive. Some of you may have seen random comments (Mal pensar, Gioum). Been travelling quite a bit. Anyway, I hope to bring out a few levels soon.
The dragon's head was inspired by Oof. Now my favorite comment from the past few months: "In Soviet russia, ice cream meteorites you. aw what the shit, that didn't even have sense. 5aved" ~ Gioum |

July's NUMACON entry dealt with perhaps the most difficult parameters the contest has had so far. Dragons, I think we can all agree, aren't too easy to draw up in Ned. And on top of that, fun survivals aren't easy to make period.
Yet for all that, Ferox's map is breathtakingly ambitious. The tiles are picture-perfect and playing it is as hectic as one must assume Pearl Harbor was on the fateful morning depicted above. Pearl Harbor, 1941 nails the atmosphere on the head. In short, it was exactly the sort of map we envisioned when we restarted NUMACON. Congratulations.

oh, there's actually a dragon?
I'm a little dissappointed in that. I thought you were using it as a metaphor for the bombs. :/
He didn't even say the map was bad. He said he disliked the genre, especially recently, and that he was happy a competition that led to mappers making more of that genre was over.
He didn't say the map was any better or worse than the average survival made in the last 4 years, and he clearly gave the map a try before coming to this conclusion. He even justified why he disliked the genre (the pointless feeling of it after the gold is gone, something I can relate to).
At the end of the day it's an opinion and he's entitled to it. Disagreeing with it doesn't make it any less valid. Here's mine: The action in this is fantastic, and the enemies mesh perfectly within the cramped space. The gold forces you to go into the heart of the action, and the closed walls + bounceblocks allow you to quickly weave through just about anything if your good/fast enough. All in all very action packed and enjoyable. Suffers from the usual survival flaw of making me want to take the safest most repetitive route once all the gold is gone. I think it would play better as a standard action map.
Anyways here is an awesome AGD with some nice dodges. Congratz on the feature Ferox.

Implying I've rated it...

Urm
@flag: It's just my opinion. I'm not a fan of survival maps, and actively use NReality. I didn't really enjoy every 4th or 5th map I loaded being uncompletable. Don't take it personally; I am allowed an opinion.
@Ferox: Re-read what I said - my comment wasn't a pick about you personally, but a pick at survivals in general. For me this map isn't greatly fun, but nor are any other survivals that I've played in the last few years. I could have lied to you and said that I found this map super-duper amazing, but I didn't!
Here's a 977 frame gold-less demo to explain what I meant about the gauss section:

"I'm so glad this competition is over!"
Awesome! Reading things like that makes me want to discontinue the new numacon I just started, and probably never have one again! Thanks for your input.
I happen to be overly positive, it's just bitches like to cling. ;)
You forgot a comma right there.

I'm so glad this competition is over!
For me, survivals reached their peak a very long time ago. I don't think I've found any survival map greatly fun to play since 2007; this map is no exception to that. For me, once the gold has been collected there's no point in playing any more.
This map is pretty easy to survive on by getting to the area where the gauss turret is and staying there, and I don't really see what's so challenging about that.
Congratulations on winning.

I've never liked survivals.
But I'll admit this is well made.

Pretty Map,
I'd like it so much more if it were not survival. But that was the Numacon challenge I guess.

Congratulations!!
on the first try. this is a really comfy level to play at.

2nd try agd
Not bad. The enemies looked like they weren't going to gel at all, but they did, and quite nicely too. The map gets pleasantly hectic as it goes on, too. Congratulations!

Badass
You can do it so that the left most trap door doesn't close, so the drone goes inside the traps instead of around them; by standing on top and to the far left you only have to dodge the chaingun.
Still badass though ^^

Start of an AGD.
And look at the dodge between the floorguard and the rocket. :p

It's too imbalanced
If you stand in the top left brace you only have to deal with the seeker drone, it's easy as pie to survive serveral thousand frames.
