--Mapdraft Round One First Place--
There are two criteria to the mapdraft [forum.ninjarobotyeti.com] judging process: 1) how well you integrate your "packs", and 2) simply how good the map plays and looks. Most every mapdraft map combines elements of gameplay and design that would never normally be seen together -- this is why it's a fascinating exercise in mapping and adaptability. Sunset's is a shining example; with few tiles and an overwhelming number of mines, he nonetheless creates a series of precise but fun jumps and an easy-going atmosphere.

I like the first prize in each round of Mapdraft is a Featured Map. It's a good idea, even better.
And I appreciate that you use your day in the queue.

and I understand how difficult they can be to make, but this is far below the usual featured maps standard.

to whoever said that mapdraft maps shouldn't be featured: well, i did get admin permission, but i used my own queue day so if you want to be a snarky little whore* about it the fact that it was a mapdraft map was total coincidence. uh, also i think our feature system can withstand more than one contest feature per month maybe, who knows, i don't know, palemoon, mapdraft!

I agree this is a good map
and that sunset did a great job with the mapdraft contest.
however, I feel that just because a reviewer makes a contest doesnt make it so that the "winning" map from that contest should be featured, I feel that should be kept to contests such as NUMACON

So what if I made about a dozen or so packs that give you tons of tiles and sent them to ChrisE? Would anyone like that?
And a low number of tiles != ugly tiles.

I don't think this was a good idea
Also, mapdraft packs only allow for ugly maps because they give you like 40 tiles to use, which fills up less than a quarter of the map.

I will give my opinion.
I like Sunset. I like the mapping of Sunset. He knows.
But I think this map does not deserve the first prize or a feature.
It is a good map, I will not say otherwise, but that does not deserve it (comparing it of course to the other maps presented to the first round). I think Sunset is able to do something better with the packs that he had.
The tiles were created without enthusiasm. The mines were laid by the pack as stated, there was no alternative. And the seeker drone almost not doing its job.
I will refer to only some of the other's chosen maps by flag as finalists.
ChrisE has created a solid map, intense, with several routes to complete, and with a high degree of replayability.
karmap0lice has created a map that requires skill and ability in handling the Ninja to complete, to look great, and use of mines at least logical and aesthetic.
Even apse has created a delicate little jewel.
I think flag is not consistent with their choice.
This is not to win no friends, no enemies (judges, organizers, directly affected, and other participants), it's just an honest opinion.
