i'm back from japan at last, after an 11 day delayed flight because of the volcano in iceland that shut down uk airspace.i spent ages on this, enjoy.

I still don't understand why flights weren't just rerouted around Iceland (500 miles or however far was necessary). I mean, Obama didn't fly to /Poland/ because of this.

Closing the airspace was the right thing to do, and a lot of the moaning about the closure was due to the heads of airlines being greedy swines and the right-wing elements of the media seizing a chance to imply governmental fault close to an election.

Oh and there was that scottish guy who didn't much like iceland. [youtube.com]

..didn't really see the ash. And I don't think that it was right to shut the airspace down for such a long time, because I heard that they tested it and did'nt find any ash on the plane.
