But upon playing it the map was far too cramped. The mines were placed nicely but they were placed in ways that weren't conducive to great gameplay. For example, the mine to the left and below the exit seemed to be poorly placed. I would have loved to hold right at the beginning and just barely dodge that mine while making my way to the right side of the map.
As for the right side, it was more fun than the left. The route from the bottom to the top made it fun. Again, it was a bit cramped and I think the chaingun was a poor choice of enemy, but it definitely had replay value.
The left side is a whole different story. Because it didn't have the route from the top to the bottom, it was annoying to have to hit the jump pad just right to get through the one-ways. Reverse the direction the one-ways face and create a little route for the ninja to go through out of tiles from the top to the bottom and that part would be much more enjoyable. The floorguard was a bit of enemy overkill. It was more difficult to dodge the floorguard than dodging most everything else in the map. It was (again) a cramped area and could have used less stuff.

I guess my main advice is: Less is more. If you want inspiration on how to use a minimal amount of objects and create something worthwhile, look at mintnut or atob maps. Once you have the basics down, you can begin to add more and more gameplay.

I hope this helps.
