Description | Sneak Peek at my Forefront Flash mappack. Each of the episodes (every 5 maps) is made in only one day.
As for this map, it's not the most appealing map I've made, but the mines = patience. This was a bit rushed so I didn't get to make the puzzle more puzzlish. This is kind of trial and error, but also just a bit of action and puzzle. |

Lacking.
I was going to say something about the map but then I read Nexx's comment and realized that he said what I basically wanted to say. Less roaming drones and more drones circling a single + without a trap door changing their route would have been nice. I can't be bothered with making a demo because it wasn't very much fun to try to demo. If you spiced up the map itself, added a more decayed look to some parts of the tileset and then developed a better sense of gold and mine placement, this would probably remind me of an ancient structure of some sort with all kinds of trap doors and switches and such. One last thing that would be nice to remove is all the routes in which you have to go around the same set of tiles twice.
I know you made this in one day, but I really encourage you to remake it with a similar route and try again.

It's not bad. The puzzle itself is pretty good. Even though it's trial and error, you more or less minimize the error that's fatal, and that's much better. Also, there's more than just the trial and error - which just tells you what switches do what - because then you still have to figure out how to AGD the thing. As for the enemies, meh. I guess the roaming drones added some interest and some danger, but I can't say I liked them much. Also, dropping down into that bottom right gold/mine room is a pain. And of course, actually AGDing the whole thing is rather tedious. Not to mention that your visuals leave much to be desired.
I think you need to pick one of the genres and focus on them, either gearing the map mainly towards the puzzle, or focusing on making an action map that revolves around a puzzle concept. As is, this map didn't really come off well as either. Overall, 5/10, rounded up.

It's kind of annoying moving around in it, and annyong getting trapped etc. But I like how if you're clever you can lock the drones inside the rooms, but if you're not clever you can lock yourself indside.
