Description | This is my first (and most likely my last) DDA. It took me a REALLY long time, so if it gets like one or two comments and no rating, I'm gonna resub it later. I know it looks kinda ugly, because I built the tileset around the DDA stuff, instead of vise versa. Also, using only springs as propulsion is pretty n00bish, but I still think there's enough close calls and narrow escapes to keep you interested. So please, please, please RCE!!! |

Teleporters are cool. I was delighted with the number of teleporters this map used and that it all worked very well. It was cool to see the ninja fly across the map faster than my eyes, and to still get in on a few good close calls. But this fast-paced map didn’t give me the thrill of other DDAs. I watched it frame by frame and noticed many more close calls than I did when watching it normally, but speed took the danger out. Don't worry, this is great teleporting fun, even without all the thrill.

Those two words are inspiring more rage
than "Heil Hitler". I swear to god, you people need to chill your beans.

If you want to say what you rated a map...
Do it in a comment, not in a feature.

As I said below,
We don't want to know what you rated it, we want to know why you featured it. Simple as that.
But it would be moronic at this point to continue to add them, because so many people just don't like them.
Anyways, I featured this because I liked the zippity teleporty nature of this map. I thought it was fun.

There's some cool thwump stuff
But teleporters take all the fun out of ddas, they're a cheap way to sneak out of any tight fix, plus I can't even tell what's going on because the little guy zips around so sporadically.

ratings dont add anything
the rest of your review is good; the added rating is trivial, i think. do what you please though....

Also take the rockets out
It's just a dissapointment to see them there and add 0 thrill to the dda.

Please leave your ratings out
It's starting to bother me now.

"It doesn't look good when you criticise the map in the review."
Nah. Sorry, Sen.
"Leave your ratings out."
Naaaaah. Do whatever you please! You are a reviewer because I liked your sample reviews. Thus, I trust you to continue at a certain level of quality. You haven't come anywhere near going below it yet.

It can be essentially a review (because that's a good way of telling about the map), but it needn't be. The featurer might focus instead on what makes the map stand out, or maybe go in a very different direction and make a themed lead-in for the map.
You can also clearly see from this context why ratings have no place even in a review-based feature: we don't want to know what you rated it, we want to know why you featured it.
And criticizing in the review is fine; it's okay to point out that some things are lacking while also pointing out what's awesome. This can be especially relevant for maps that have a very interesting concept or mechanism but are a bit lacking in overall execution.

haha this is cool
who says that launchpad DDAs are bad?
2011-09-08
Indeed, indeed.
Still finding that fine line between a review and a feature.
And to Jawbit:
Just want you to know, that this is probably the best teleporter DDA I've met, sorry for any negativity on my part.

Adding to what seven_two said
It doesn't look good when you criticise the map in the review. Even if you do have a slight problem with the map, it doesn't inspire much confidence when you say, in what is, after all, the space where you're meant to praise the map, that it lacks the thrill of most DDAs.

Leave your ratings out.
They are highly arbitrary, and add little value and insight to your review.
Launchpads, gold delay and repetition all scream old-school (I like slight repetition most). However, teleporters present pacing inconsistencies which are really irritating. And they're easy and unsatisfactory escapes from danger. Close calls too scarce for DDA to be exciting, imo.

Wasn't a fan.
The teleporters basically ensure that there are zero close calls, which is the only reason to watch a DDA.

I did like this.
The teleporters were used very well, and made me go, "Oh, where is he now? Oh there he is! Or not!" It was spectacularly confusing, but it didn't get a thrill out of it as much as other DDAs. It was so fast, that I didn't notice how close the calls were until I watched it frame by frame. I liked it, just not as thrilling as other DDAs.
