Lightning pretty much said most of what needs to be said.
Just look around at some of the really good maps on numa, the featured page is a good place to start.
And after a while the way some-thing looks becomes nearly as important as how it plays, just some-thing to keep in mind

This makes my first map look like crap
Lightning has some important points, but this is a good first level, one of the best I've seen on Numa. 4.5\5 with a .5 first map bonus

No problem
also, you dont want maps to be too long or too short. Maps usually have something called "teh flo" or the flow. It makes the map interesting and easily jumped. Race maps are full of flow, whereas action maps may need you to create your own route. Look around and learn. I gave a 4 on this map because it demonstrates understanding of the basic fundamentals of N gameplay (or just made something fun for yourself to play in). There are simple maps which make the most of every object and tile, and there are complex maps (like most of mine) which involve many objects and seeming endless gaming. Sometimes a simple map may be harder than a complex map. It is all how you put it together. Learn as you go. Good luck.

First Try AGD
all gold demo. I liked the climbing with zap drones but you could have lowered the margin to 1 square, making it a bit more challenging. The big room with the gauss turret was kinda fun but not very interesting. I think internet acronyms do appear if you search it on google or wikipedia. Not bad for a first map, but a bit short.
