The gold is ugly and the gausses are awkward, though.

i agree

with atob (although i would not label the trick as "pretentious"; that title is reserved pretty much for gloomp and his imitators alone); the map is generic and not very fun to play. the floorguard trick was not very fun to play through, and overall, i didn't get a very clear atmosphere in this map. it wasn't inspired enough.

On the other hand,

I didn't even like the tiles!

Atob

carries himself like a mastermind. Heh. *cough*

Anyway, the only thing I liked about this was the tiles.

I mean Pretentious.

In this context if means: showy, inflated, overdone, etc..

IN BRIEF: Trying to seem more important or valuable than is true.

Their use is clearly reaching for avant-garde and it just comes across as insincere.

Hmm...

Maybe it's because I haven't played many maps on Numa recently. Honestly I've seen floating floorguards, but not used quite in that way. Gimmicky or not, I still think they worked pretty well when combined with the gauss.

On the other hand, I will say the launchpad/trapdoor thing seemed pointless, and the off-kilter oneways were kinda odd.
It fits the definition of pretentious. I'm not that good at english so I looked it up to check I had the meaning right how is it any of these things.

1: characterized by pretension: as a: making usually unjustified or excessive claims (as of value or standing) b: expressive of affected, unwarranted, or exaggerated importance, worth, or stature
2: making demands on one's skill, ability, or means

you maybe mean unoriginal in which case I get that more
a dull map that's reaching with showy and splashed on old mechanics for the sake of 'different' pretentious, then you're going to keep on failing.

AGD

Again I think the entire bottom half was unnecessary and didn't add anything fail to see how the floor guards were pretentious though atob

Below average

The gauss sections just felt like padding, and the central challenge seemed unpolished. Also, this is about as conventional as different can get, imo.

It's pretentious

because the floor guard concept is a tired and obvious trick used mostly when no real inspiration is at hand, and they've just been splashed over a lifeless map. Tacked on and gimmicky.

Awful map.

It's like you've given up.

agd

nowadays, all your maps are different.

you and radiumfalcon have opposite problems.

failed

shame that the gold is kinda annoying 4/5

Actually...

I thought they worked well. I didn't think it came off as pretentious just because he used them differently than normal.
to figure out mapping?

lol

second try beaten. i liked it 3.7/5

first try

i got to the switch then got sniped out.

And all you got
