Wow, this is great. galaxy of the lost is by far one of GreenEggsAndHams’ best maps. The gameplay is amazing with a cool launch pad mechanic, and close calls. This map is likely the most flowey map I have ever seen, everything in this map is near perfect. A large Diamond in GreenEggsAndHams’ wonderful archive. — eternal_moonlight

Sorry.

You read it wrong
"with a little more work on the map itself"
To disambiguate.
Anyway. Bored now. Carry on with whatever it is.

That's a mistake right? You want to improve people opinions? And whose opinions should the become more like?
Meh, unless you throw some kind of insult at me - I'm out. (by that I mean, I'm somewhat like Marty McFly, I know I should leave the conversation, but if people keep calling me out I just can't stay away.)

Hmm.
I wasn't putting my opinion of what makes a good map forward as gospel, I was simply saying that the unrefined look can be achieved without a map looking unfinished.
I honestly don't believe that people's opinions of this couldn't be improved with a little more work, and I don't think anyone can honestly say they wouldn't without seeing what could be done with it.
After all, nothing is perfect, right?

only the crazy monologue. ; )

No atob,
it's just, not every map has to align with your opinion of a good map. Your so sure of your taste you seem to have forgotten that it's subjective.

I remixed this
a bit too much [nmaps.net]

As I said
this same jagged, sparse, unrefined aesthetic can be achieved without it actually looking unrefined.
I'm pretty sure you're just arguing with me because I'm being so damn sure of myself.

"I'm not saying all fruit have to be apples
but fruits that ARE apples while retaining this jagged aesthetic and gameplay quality will ultimately trump fruits, in terms of success, like this orange, as, not only will they appeal to the people who love oranges, but they'll appease the apple-liking natures of people like me.
Anyway, apples PLUS oranges = always greater than quality of taste alone. and apples doesn't mean it can't be pears, or bananas, or have that orange quality that some of you appreciate. It just means that you can produce an orange with the taste of an apple without it being an orange."
~~
Yeah that's all pretty out of context, but you get the point. Just because you like apples doesn't mean all fruit has to be apples. Some people like oranges.

Atob, is this any better?
Or am I barking up the wrong tree?

but maps that ARE super slick while retaining this jagged aesthetic and gameplay quality will ultimately trump maps in terms of success like this one as, not only will they appeal to the people who love this, but they'll appease the OCD/pedantic natures of people like me.
Anyway, slick PLUS quality of play = always greater than quality of play alone. and slick doesn't mean it can't be sparse, or jagged, or have that unfinished quality that some of you appreciate. It just means that you can produce the effect with a considered finish without it being lazy or contrived.
*backs off hoping this doesn't turn into another flag (always wrong) Vs. atob (always correct) debate*

Nah.
Jagged and somewhat formless maps have their place. And I mean that in the best possible way--not everything has to be super slick, although I see why you would say that, atob.
Perfect flow. Perfect love.
